Holdings

As well as realms and Banners, holdings represent another way of exerting influence, and more importantly gain regency. For the class type holding, every spring equinox the player will receive regency equal to the number of holdings corresponding to his class.

Anyone can BUILD and operate holdings, however classes gain extra abilities from holdings, and of course gain regency. A class can always cast spells for one of their class specific holdings as the centre, drastically increasing their range of realm spells.

There are Four different types of holdings that can be purchased that have specific affects.

  • Law - Representing dheriffs, tax collectors, militia etc.
  • Faith - Representing churches, schools, communes etc.
  • Guild - Representing logging camps, mines, thieves guilds, tradehouse and ranches etc.
  • Sources - Representing stone circles; magic power focusing inventions, or ancient binding spells etc.

Each holding type relates to each of the major class types:

  • Warrior - Law
  • Priest - Faith
  • Rogue - Guild
  • Wizard - Sources

The particular bonus are described in more detail under class abilities and holding abilities.

Holdings have five levels and each level costs its currently level to improve. Each province can only hold 5 total levels of holdings.

Holdings supress the abilities of holdings of the higher levels, however only the highest level holding of a particular type gains any benefits beyond generation of regency. It is important to note that guilds also suppress sources. (Industry prevents wilderness magic)

Holdings are the only thing that can be constructed in a province during the campaign phase of each year.
